The therapies
in detail

Nothing here is booked on its own except sports massage and the rehabilitation gym. Everything else is chosen after the assessment, and we tell you why.

Hands treating a patient's upper back

Hands first, then homework

Most sessions are a mix: hands-on treatment to change what we can change on the day, and two or three exercises to keep it changed between visits. If you leave without exercises it is because we decided you did not need them, not because we forgot.

01

Osteopathy

Osteopaths look at how the whole body moves, not only the bit that hurts. Treatment is hands-on: joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, gentle manipulation where it is right for you, and advice on what to change. Ruth and Ellie are registered osteopaths.

Hands-on treatment of the whole body to restore movement and ease pain.
02

Manual therapy

Mobilisation and manipulation of joints, and specific techniques for muscles and tendons, used when an assessment shows something is stiff, stuck or overloaded. Usually combined with exercise so the change lasts.

Treatment of joints and soft tissue that are not moving as they should.
03

Fascial release

Slow, sustained pressure on the connective tissue, useful when pain is spread across an area rather than in one joint, and after long periods of immobility.

Targeted work on the connective tissue that wraps every muscle.
04

Soft tissue techniques

Deep tissue and sports massage, trigger point work and assisted stretching. Booked on its own as sports massage or used within a physiotherapy session.

Stretching and release work on the muscles themselves.
05

Rehabilitation training

A programme built for you and progressed each visit, on the reformer, with weights or with your own body. This is how a repaired knee becomes a knee you trust on a descent.

Structured strength and movement work in the clinic gym.
06

Exercise therapy

A short, specific set of exercises with a clear reason for each one. We film them on your phone so you do not have to remember, and we change them as you improve.

Movement-based treatment you take home.
07

Acupuncture

Western medical acupuncture and dry needling, used by our trained physiotherapists as part of a session where it helps with pain or muscle tightness. Always optional.

Fine needles used to settle pain and muscle tension.
08

Pelvic health physiotherapy

For incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain, pregnancy and after birth, and after pelvic surgery. Megan sees women and men in a private room at the Kendal clinic.

Specialist assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor.
09

Taping

Rigid taping to support a joint while it heals and elastic taping to change how a muscle works, applied so it lasts through a week of walking or a race weekend.

Support and kinesiology taping.
